On 18th October, in Plaza de la Revolución in Havana, a solemn wake was held to remember the heroic freedom fighter. A tearful crowd took part and commander Fidel Castro entrusted his memory to the people present. “Che’s extraordinary character united virtues that rarely appear together […], he was a man of ideals and a man of action […]. Che also had another extraordinary trait, which is not connected to intelligence or will, that is not linked to experience in battle. It is more a trait of the heart – he was a man that was extraordinarily human […].”
